The Philosophy of Blogs
Writing this blog was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. For a couple of days I could not think of anything to write about. Then, I watched "The Incredibles" with a group of friends and we were all discussing the different themes of the movie. I had so much fun that I decided to analyze seven different Pixar movies: Up, Brave, Coco, Inside Out, A Bug's Life, WALL-E, and The Incredibles. I love Pixar as they tell adult themes in child friendly ways. I watched each of the movies again, and then decided on what different themes and philosophies I wanted to write about. I got the title of my blog from the song "My New Philosophy" from the musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. I was worried that it would come across snobbish, so I tried to put the song on the top of my blog but it's a little finicky.
Besides the different analyses of Pixar movies, my second favorite article to write was on "The Stories that Bind Us". It was very eye opening to realize just how much of my family history I knew. It made me very grateful to my parents and family for being the amazing influence in my life that they are. I also loved reading my favorite General Conference talk again, "Value Beyond Measure". It was fun to dissect and delve into that talk. One of my favorite things in the world is to really research a movie or talk and find the different symbolism and themes in it. In writing this blog, I became very aware that I am not good at being vulnerable with strangers. Before I decided on analyzing Pixar movies, I toyed with the idea of writing about personal experiences. I don't think I'm at the point where I can be truly vulnerable online, but I still had a lot of fun writing the different articles.
This blogging experience was good practice in writing more regularly. I was able to write each article more quickly as time went by. I am excited to see what the future brings to my blogging experiences. I think that I will continue to analyze movies, but broaden out of Pixar movies as I started to run out of ideas near the end. Thank you for an incredible experience!
